English Wolves Won the Third ELL Tournament

After two Bisons‘ victories it was LC Wolves who celebrated their success in the third European Lacrosse League tournament. All final games were very tight and attractive. Bisons were just one goal up against Aitcom Pardubice in the tournament 1 and same goal difference was in their second final against Deutschland Adler. Adler was the Wolves‘ opponent in the tournament 3 final and again the game was very dramatic. Wolves youngster Jakub Výmola scored the winning goal in the sudden death overtime.
The final game started in fast tempo, Matěj Barák scored in the first minute after Jiří Košťál’s pass and set the Wolves lead. Pavel Došlý equalized from the crease in the 5th minute starting his very good performance in this game. Matěj Barák added his second goal in the 12th minute when he finished his break with an accurate shot under Adler’s goalie Neil Tyacke’s arm. Jiří Kośťál then scored in the šrd minute of the second period setting Wolves lead to 3 : 2.
But then it was Adler’s Canadian acquisition Eric Tuura great moments. He finished his hattrick in five minutes and turned the game over. When Pavel Došlý scored another two unanswered goals it seemed that the game is resolved. But the Wolves have not given up. Matěj Barák scored his third goal and at the very end of the period Martin Hodaň caught the ball during Adler power-play and shot to the empty cage over the whole arena.
In the third minute of the third periond Martin Šrůta proved his sprinter skills, received a great pass from goalie Dominik Sika and equalized – 6 : 6. Wolves then had a two man up power play but not only they had not used it but they even let Pavel Došlý to score his fourth goal. Nevertheless Wolves had not given up and Antonín Gottwald scored in another power play in the 12th minute and sudden death over-time followed.
Martin Hodaň together with Martin Šrůta won the important face-off for Wolves and Jakub Výmola with a nice bounced shot closed the exciting final game. Matěj Barák and Dominik Sika were Wolves key players in this game, Pavel Došlý and Eric Tuura excelled on the other side. Both teams performed very good skills and certainly they can struggle for the overall ELL triumph.
Bisons played ELL Blue in the bronze medal game and it was another dramatic match. Bisons won 7 : 6 thanks to three Radek Skála’s goals. ELL Blue Sean Menz scored twice.
Also the 5th place game was very tight and had to be resolved in penalty shots. Old Dogs Plzeň were more lucky and sent Aitcom Pardubice to the 6th place. Klaus Hauer was the decisive penalty shot executor.
The setting for the ELL play-offs are clear after the tournament 3. LC Bison is the basic part winner and thus approaching directly to the semi-final. They will play against the winner of Aitcom Pardubice vs. Old Dogs Plzeň match. Deutschlad Adler finished second and their semi-finla opponent will be LC Wolves vs. ELL Blue winner. The play-offs are held in Radotín on October 19th and 20th.
